Whether representing a sport and development organisation or an enthusiast acting independently, sportanddev invites you to share what you are doing to celebrate the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

A space for the community

In August 2013 the UN General Assembly passed a proclamation that 6 April, which also marks the anniversary of the opening of the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896, is to be observed as the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP).

On 6 April 2014, the sport and development (S&D) community will celebrate this day worldwide for the first time ever. As facilitators on the day, sportanddev brings you the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace on sportanddev.org page to provide some context behind the day, share advice on how to organise your own IDSDP campaign and enable you to highlight how you are celebrating the day.

Guidelines for submissions
To communicate with the community what you are doing to celebrate the IDSDP, sportanddev invites you to respond to two questions in no more than 150 words:

  1. What are you doing to celebrate the day?
  2. What does the day mean to you?

Question one is a chance for you to provide a brief description of your planned activities for the day and question two is an opportunity to communicate a message to the community on this occasion.

How to submit?
It is really quite simple. Use this link and provide the information requested above. The sportanddev Operating Team will review your submission and post it in the “Who’s doing what” section of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace page.

Please attach a photo, photo credit and caption with your submission. Photos should be an image that represents how you are celebrating the day.

Finally, if you have an event page you would like to share with the community, please include the link in your submission.
