The International Platform on Sport and Development provides a hub for sharing knowledge, building good practice, facilitating coordination and fostering partnerships between those with an interest in the field of sport and development.

Site visitors have access to news, events, organisation details, official statements and more from the field of sport and development. Users can also connect and interact with each other in order to discuss, ask questions and comment on each other’s work and experiences.

The platform also provides newcomers to the field of sport and development with an entry point to discovering how sport can play a part in reaching development and humanitarian objectives.

Users can submit their own content for publication on sportanddev.org and its associated social media channels.

Registered users can browse jobs and opportunities, view the contact details of registered organisations and make contact with other users in the field of sport for development.

The Thematic Areas section contains research on specific themes within sport and development. Each part of this section provides a brief overview of specific thematic areas and links to further reading for those who wish to delve deeper into specific topics.

The Guiding Toolkits section contains practical information on how to get involved and and improve practices in sport and development. This section contains tools, guides, manuals and tips for practitioners and donors.

Visitors can sign up for a regular email newsletter featuring news, events and opportunities from the field of sport for development.

Registered users can upload their events, news and research documents onto the website using the Submit Your Content form. All content is moderated and edited by the Operating Team according to the sportanddev style guide before being approved and published.

The Membership and Organisation databases can be found in the Network section of the site and are visible to registered sportanddev members only. Register as a sportanddev member here.

To create a member profile, sign up as a sportanddev member by registering a sportanddev account.

To create an organisation profile, first register a sportanddev account. Then, log in and create your organisation on the Submit Your Content page. 

Members are responsible for creating and updating their own member and organisational profiles.

All of the following content types are moderated by the Operating Team prior to being published: News Articles, Events, Jobs and Opportunities, Media. This means that the Operating Team is actively filtering out any posts containing spam, disinformation or irrelevant content before publishing.

The Organisation and Member networks, however, are published and maintained by the members themselves. Information published under individual profiles can't be guaranteed to be factual. Site visitors are advised to make contact with the Operating Team to verify the accuracy of any information posted in these sections should it prove suspicious or inaccurate.

Users may perform the following actions to contribute to sportanddev.org:

  • Register and create a personal profile
  • Create an organisational profile
  • Post comments to any news or events item
  • Upload news articles, events, press releases and jobs/opportunities
  • Sign up to receive the regular newsletter

The Operating Team is responsible for the day-to-day management of the website and working with the Steering Board, which oversees overall strategic direction.

The Operating Team develops original content for the Research and Learning section of the website and moderates and publishes user-submitted news, events and jobs/opportunities. 

The Steering Board is currently made up of all funding partners of sportanddev.org. It is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of the initiative.
