a line of people give a thumbs up
International Sport and Culture Association

The manual explains the approach of education through sport (ETS) in the context of both youth work and grassroots sport, based in the practise of non-formal education, experiential learning and active participation.

The combination of sport and learning provides an excellent opportunity to learn through activities that are very enjoyable, highly emotional and based on active participation and involvement. It brings people close and it is a very natural way of learning. With a little preparation and planning it results in powerful learning outcomes that participants of youth work or sport for all activities can integrate into the rest of their lives.

The manual also provides several exercises that can be used in youth work, non-formal education and sport groups. The exercises are described step-by step so that any educational practitioners can facilitate them within their groups. The exercises are designed for groups of young people aged between 12 and 30, but they can also be adapted to adults and some for children.

With this publication we would like to contribute to the efficiency and variability of non-formal education for young people in Europe and beyond. We, the authors of this manual, would also like to invite you and challenge you to start using education through sport in your activities and projects with young people and also enrich the European community of ETS with new exercises and creative solutions.
