On 3 November 2006, the General Assembly adopted resolution 61/10. The resolution included adoption of the Action Plan on Sport for Development and Peace presented in the report by the Secretary-General (A/61/373).
The Resolution invites Member States and sports organizations to further promote sport and physical education to help achieve the Millennium Development Goals, and develop sports programmes and provide voluntary contributions for activities of the offices of the Special Adviser on Sport for Development and Peace.
