Born in Zimbabwe and bred in Cape Town, South Africa, Ben's passion and expertise is in sport for development and peace. He is a senior consultant at sportanddev and has worked locally and globally including with the United Nations, Commonwealth Secretariat and South African state. He has public and private sector leadership experience with expertise in strategy, fundraising, partnership development, monitoring & evaluation, research, policy and programme management. Jack Needham
Consultant

A graduate of Loughborough University’s Sport Management MSc, achieving a distinction and the highest research mark in the cohort. As a result of my studies and involvement in Sport, I am a strong believer in the use of Sport for social change. I am continuing my involvement in this area by providing support and expertise to projects, organisations, and NGOs in the Sport for Development field. I am currently supporting sportanddev by leading on the 'Website Redesign' project, along with other work. Marisa Schlenker
Consultant

Marisa Schlenker is a sport for development consultant and programme manager who supports the sportanddev platform. With 10+ years experience in the sport for social development sector, she has worked on a variety of projects and initiatives which position sport as a contributor to the sustainable development goals. As a monitoring, evaluation and learning specialist she has worked with key players in the football for purpose, gender equality and social activism space including Discover Football, EIR Ggwcup, FARE Network and Common Goal. .

Claire Smagghe
French-speaking consultant

Involved in the development of sport as an educational tool over the past 10 years, Claire has led projects locally and internationally. These various projects have enabled her to develop a wide range of skills in project management, fund-raising and communications. She is a laureate of the Institut de l'Engagement (The Commitment Institute) in France. Sensitive to gender equality, she is also trained in journalism, to give a voice to sportswomen. Claire is now editor-in-chief of Les Sportives media in France. 

 

Haneen Kh
Arabic-speaking consultant

As a former football player, the passion of the game let Haneen start perusing her career back in 2015 with UEFA Foundation supporting Sport for development programs in refugee camps. Since that time, Haneen has continued working in a national and international organizations using sports to promote gender equality, foster positive social change, and provide equal opportunities. Haneen holds two Guinness World Records, and she is currently on a mission of enhancing and expanding the Arabic content in sportanddev.
