Today we would like to inform you about a unique event in the field of team and racket sport research: In 2016 an international conference in the area of team and racket sport research will be held at the German Sport University in Cologne, Germany.

The Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) will be held in Germany for the very first time. Former conferences have taken place in English-speaking countries, including for example, England and Canada. In addition, the dvs-Sportspiel-Symposium will take place simultaneously at the German Sport University, Cologne, for its second time after 2004.

It will be the first time that both events, i.e., the 6th TGfU Conference and the 10th dvs-Sportspiel-Symposium, will take place together. Also, it will be the first time that a national team sport commission (committee) will be brought into contact with an international scientific community.

For this unique opportunity, we are expecting about 400 to 500 colleagues from all over the world. This would be the largest TGfU conference and dvs-Sportspiel-Symposium ever to be held so far.

International and national scientists will engage in interdisciplinary discussions relevant to team sport topics from the fields of sport pedagogics, sport didactics, sport psychology, sport informatics, and training and movement science. The conference will be an ideal exchange opportunity between scientists, practitioners, coaches and teachers and will support existing cooperation or lead to new/future international co-operations. We are already looking forward to the international exchange, which will unquestionably characterise this conference.
