2013 ISHPES Congress

14th Congress of the International Society for the History of Physical Education and Sport (ISHPES 2013) will be held on 18-22 August in Taipei, Taiwan.

The Congress of ISHPES is a platform for scholars and students to exchange new research results and theories.Through communication and collaboration, the aim is to facilitate and enhance the studies of the history of physical education and sport of different countries, races and cultures.

This year the topic is “Games and Sporting Events in History: Organization, Performances and Impacts.” Several important issues will be addressed, including the traditional spirit of festival and sports, the history of traditional folk activities and folk dance, the history of sports and tournaments and the philosophy of games, the history and the spirit of traditional martial arts, and the establishment and management of sports museum.

The event is organised by the International Society for the History of Physical Education and Sport (ISHPES), National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan Society of Physical Education and Sport History, the Taiwan Society of Sport Sociology, Taiwan Body Culture Society and the College of Sports & Recreation, National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan
