The 24th IAKS Congress 2015
Attractive spaces for physical activity, sustainability, optimal training conditions, economic benefits – the demands on a sports facility are numerous; attempting to meet all these demands equally is like a balancing act. The 24th International IAKS Congress, held from 27 to 30 October 2015, offers potential solutions and inspiration. In their lectures speakers from 45 countries will present a variety of examples of the architectural and operational solutions that are available in their respective countries.
People practice their sport and leisure activities in the most varied places. The 24th IAKS Congress displays trends and best practices for a variety of these spaces. The spectrum ranges from new approaches to traditional sports grounds, equipment for colleges, universities and schools, to stadiums and arenas for major events, as well as urban adventure areas and open spaces. The focus is on the following aspects – how maximum sustainability can be achieved, how architecture contributes to the development of healthier generations, how sports facilities can act as a catalyst for a region and how sport centres contribute to creativity, communication, contribution and participation.
