As part of its efforts to provide every underprivileged child in Odisha the right to play, sport development organisation Pro4Sport Solutions (P4SS) will be organising a 5K Barefoot Run on 21 July in Brahmapur. The run is part of the Khel Vikas movement that P4SS has initiated with rural development organisation, Gram Vikas.

Speaking about the initiative, P4SS Co-founder Aman Dhall said that the larger aim is to highlight the difficulties an underprivileged child faces in terms of competing in a sport. "We want everyone who is part of the run to feel what it's like to run without socks and shoes. We want to raise awareness about the difference a pair of shoes can make to a child’s life."

The voluntary donations raised through the run will be used for funding 1,500 pairs of shoes for children part of four rural schools of Gram Vikas in Odisha.
