6th UNOSDP Youth Leadership Programme
Held over a 12 day period (25 June-6 July), the UNOSDP YLP provides thirty 18-25 year olds with the skills and education required for them to return home and become sporting role models in their communities.
This is the third YLP of 2013, following successful events in Qatar and the most recent, the first French speaking YLP in Switzerland. The participants will travel from a variety of different countries and cultures. It is this blend of experiences and backgrounds that make these YLP meetings unique. Participants will travel from, Zambia, Pakistan, Ghana, Uganda, South Africa, Tanzania, Rwanda, Bosnia, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Barbados, Kenya and Palestine.
The Swedish YLP will be hosted by the Bosön Sports Academy and for the next 12 days it will be the temporary home for these 30 participants. Joining them at Bosön will be a mixture of sport organisations including Federations and NGO’s. These partners include, Play and Train, International Judo Federation, International Table Tennis Federation, Fryshuset, Boxgirls, Inspirasport, Futebol dá força, Stockholm City, Djurgårdens IF Football club and the clothing partner 361 Degree Sport Clothing. Overall facilitation is provided by Right to Play and co-organisers are the Johan Cruyff Institute for Sport Studies.
Host partners Bosön are delighted to hosting such an event.
“We are delighted to be hosting the Youth Leadership Programme here in Sweden. The opportunity to organise such an event here at the Stockholm’s Bosön Sports Academy is a privilege. Our committed staff will be on hand to make the participants stay as comfortable as possible.”
Cruyff Institute Sweden representative, Anders Sewerin is looking forward to the start of the YLP.
“The Cruyff Institute Sweden is dedicated to educating people about the usefulness of sport as tool to promote positive social change and development. We are extremely happy to be organising this event for these young community leaders from around the World. This will be a great opportunity for us to showcase exactly what Sweden and Stockholm has to offer in sports education.”
