Join the #SportforDevelopmentCoalition on @ConnectSport for a Twitter takeover with @LaureusSport on the theme 'Sport and sustainable development: the next 10 years'.

Following the recent article with Laureus Sport for Good CEO Adam Fraser, @ConnectSport will be hosting the Sport for Development Coalition's monthly Twitter takeover with Dr Morten Schmidt, global director of programmes and grants at Laureus.

This will take place on Wednesday 29 January from 8-9pm GMT.

How does it work?

The Coalition poses five pre-set questions on the @ConnectSport Twitter page based on the monthly theme, and the guest tweets their answers.

Followers are then invited to join the debate, either providing their own answers to the set questions or adding their own queries directly to the special guest, all using the hashtag #SportForDevelopmentCoalition.

ConnectSport will share the best responses.

This month the five questions are:

  1. This year marks 20 years since Nelson Mandela, speaking at the Laureus World Sports Awards, famously said that "sport has the power to change the world". What do we need to happen for that vision to become a reality?
  2. What role are the SDGs, or 'Global Goals', playing in sport for development?
  3. Which SDGs does your organisation specifically contribute to?
  4. Why is it so important to be specific and intentional about what these programmes achieve?
  5. How can the sport for development movement capitalise on its interaction with mainstream sport in the future?
