Crime prevention & sport conference 2016
The conference is for practitioners who want to discuss the most recent applied research about what works to reduce youth offending and anti-social behaviour through sport and physical activity interventions.
National experts have been invited to speak at the conference including: Amanda Sater (Youth Justice Board); Hardyal Dhindsa (Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner); Jane Ashworth (CEO of StreetGames); Rt. Hon. Lord McNally (Chairman of the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales), Dr Carolynne Mason (Loughborough University) as well as leading authorities from Sport England.
Topics for discussion include:
- The ingredients of an effective sports-based community intervention
- The recently launched DCMS national sports strategy
- Pathways away from crime into employment
- Working with young people in the youth justice system
The conference takes place on Wednesday 07 December 2016 at Stoke City Football Club’s bet365 Stadium, Stoke on Trent. The location has been chosen because Stoke is the European City of Sport 2016. We hope the conference will become an annual fixture.
