Day of GirlChild 2020: FAME organises seminar for refugee girls in football

PlayitDreamit Conference is a convergence of young girls aiming to venture into sports as a full-time career with a focus on refugee girls in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.

FAME Foundation is a gender based Non-Governmental Organisation, based in Nigeria.

The organization recognizes the importance of sports as a tool for development, most especially, Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nigeria, and in conjunction with FARE Network and US Department of States, Sports Diplomacy Division, put together the PlayitDreamit Conference, a one-day event to mark the significance of the day and the #footballpeople weeks.

In line with this, the program aims at mentoring and motivating young girls in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), strives to penetrate IDP Camps in Nigeria in order to change mindsets and impact girls directly with the use of sports.

The conference is themed, “Let Girls Play” and scheduled to be held on October 9th, 2020, from 10 am – 2 pm, with two plenary sessions: 

Panel 1- Dos and Don'ts of Successful Football Career in Nigeria.   
Panel 2- Football as a Tool for Girl-child Empowerment.

After the webinar, the girls will play a football match in a field close to their camp.

PlayitDreamit Conference is a convergence of young girls aiming to venture into sports as a full-time career with a focus on refugee girls in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps. The conference is organized to provide a platform for girls to learn about how to venture into, sustain and succeed in sports participation and management from coaches, sports administrators, current and ex-athletes, male and female alike.

Conference participants are refugee girls and women, international organizations, sports personalities, sports administrators, refugee school teachers, current and ex-athletes, women and girls advocate, sports development advocates, members of the press, talent scouts and the general public.
