Football Beyond Borders (FBB) Annual Showcase is back and bigger than ever! Join us on the evening of 12 February 2020 as young people take centre stage to showcase their talents and insights on the world around them.

Be prepared to immerse yourself in the FBB experience where you can engage in youth-led workshops, hear inspiring stories and partake in conversations with the leaders of the next generation.

FBB works with over 1000 young people in the UK each week across several projects. We support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds who are passionate about football but disengaged at school, in order to help them finish school with the skills and grades to make a successful transition into adulthood.

Programme

The first half will begin at 6.30pm and will involve a series of youth-led workshops where young people will facilitate discussions on key topics such as social policy, media representation and gender. There are 250 limited spaces so please register your interest upon checkout!

The five workshops include :

  • What Makes A Man: A deep dive into the stereotypes surrounding masculinity and the negative consequences of this. FBB participants will lead a workshop which will encourage people to challenge these stereotypes and redefine 'What Makes a Man'.
  • Be Your Best Self: An interactive workshop run by young people exploring self-awareness. You will be taken through a series of activities which will encourage reflection on how you come across and how to be your best self in a range of situations.
  • They Don't Teach This: Inspired by Eniola Aluko's groundbreaking book of the same name, this workshop will explore the lessons we don't learn in school. From discrimination and structural barriers to self-improvement and affirmation, be prepared to enter into revelatory conversations with a group of fearless young women.
  • The World We Want To Live In (FBB Manifesto): Last year the FBB Girls launched their own manifesto representing the world they want to live in. Now they need your help to turn it into policy. Join the girls in a roundtable to co-create policies on racism, sexism, the environment and the future of young people.
  • My London: Following a series of videos created by young people discussing the London they grow up in, participants of this workshop will be asked to define what London means to them.

The second half will start at 7.45pm and will include a set piece youth-led showcase where we will hear young people's stories of transformational growth alongside key change makers and special guests from the world of football.

There will be food and drinks available on the night.

We have teamed up with Gillette to bring you our biggest event yet. We look forward to welcoming old and new supporters to the FBB Family!
