Global Day of Play
Join millions of people in over 130 countries to celebrate play on 27 August!
This is the first-ever day led by young people who decide how they want to celebrate the positive impacts of play. One of the key missions of the Global Day of Play is to take the Pledge to Play, Everyday. Play has been studied for decades and is well evidenced to support a healthier lifestyle, increased happiness and is key to the cognitive and physical development of children and young people.
Research has shown that young people are playing less and one of the main barriers to children and young people participating in play is a lack of time. Play is often seen as ‘silly’ and ‘non-educational’ but as Albert Einstein once said “Play is the highest form of research” and is vital in cognitive, emotional and physical development.
How does it work?
- You provide a safe and inclusive space that allows young people to lead their day of play
- Young people choose what activities, have fun, and PLAY
- Together, we pledge to play, everyday
We are asking our partners, friends and everyone who believes play is an essential part of good health and well-being, to sign this form and empower their community to #PledgeToPlayEveryday.
