The Journey to the World Cup Starts Here
FoRR works to support the development of rugby as a socially inclusive and unifying sport. By supporting the development of the sport at all levels and from all standpoints - playing, coaching, refereeing, administration - we help to create a self-sustaining infrastructure that can provide much wider engagement and benefit than we could by ourselves.
As part of this FoRR is working with the Penguins Trust and the Rwandan national rugby coach to help prepare the national team "The Silverbacks" for their 2023 World Cup qualifying match in November 2019. By supporting the grass roots (through the work of our Rugby Development Officers and our Rugby Foundations programme) and the pinnacle of the sport we create self-sustaining, end-to-end playing pathways which then generate wider engagement.
The planned match is scheduled to take place within 2 weeks of the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final and will be the very first qualification game for the 2023 World Cup. The coaching programme will be pre-planned and video analysis based. We are seeking volunteers to support the delivery of this coaching programme and the development of the Silverbacks’ individual, unit, and team skills. The trip will suit experienced players, used to a full contact training environment.
