This free seminar will investigate the paradoxes and contradictions of sport and social change and will include a keynote lecture by world leading authority on sports and race Professor Ben Carrington of the University of Texas at Austin.

Moore Development Consultancy presents a discussion on the power of sport for social change and the Olympics and its legacy for London.

Keynote lecture
Sport provides opportunities for promoting social change and justice but what role does sport play in affecting social change for marginalized groups and communities especially BME groups and how far reaching is the impact? Is there a role for sporting celebrity in the context of sport for social change and how can such change be measured? And why are certain high-profile sports embedded within a change agenda and not others? This talk taking place just days before the one year anniversary of the 2012 London Olympic Games will also make the links between sport for social change and examine the real legacy left behind and the impact on the people of Britain today.
