The Sport for Development (SfD) field is repeatedly discussed as growing exponentially in terms of programmes, initiatives and academic analysis.

At a global level, the United Nations Office on Sport for Development and Peace was closed in May 2017. Elsewhere, others have questioned the future of SfD in times of austerity.

Research and practice needs to respond to these changing times, which is why ANZALS invites academics and practitioners to be a part of a 'Think Tank' to discuss the following questions:

  1. What are the needs of the SfD sector in relation to high-level (international) representation and advocacy?
  2. What gaps currently exist within the SfD research, and how can academic researchers and industry practitioners work together to ensure these gaps are appropriately filled.
