The Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management at the University of Manitoba is pleased to announce its upcoming Research Seminar Series presentation.

When: 18 February, 2:00 pm (Central Standard Time)

Faculty assistant professor Dr. Dan Henhawk presents Sport for Reconciliation: Re-storying sport for development — a seminar that will cast a critical Indigenous lens on the colonial tensions surrounding sport for development and reconciliation.

Through exposing these issues, the presentation will discuss the place of Indigenous storywork in challenging colonial discourses embedded in sport and movements that utilize sport for development and reconciliation.

Prior to Dr. Henhawk’s seminar, Applied Health Sciences PhD student Younghoon (Daniel) Lee will present Becoming a Responsive Physical Education Teacher in Multicultural Learning Environments.

The seminar is Thursday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. on Zoom (meeting ID: 842 6029 6244 passcode: 4MwAzq)

The Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management’s Research Seminar Series annually features presentations by visiting scholars, research affiliates and invited guests. The Seminar Series has also been a valuable opportunity to collaborate with other UM units and community organizations.
