Workshop: Sport for Environment
Sport can be used to highlight the importance of a healthy environment for our everyday life and emphasize the relevance of protecting it. Through sports activities, students gain pedagogically valuable group experiences and learn about aspects of environmentally friendly and sustainable development in a playful way.
In particular, this workshop will discuss how sport can contribute to SDG13, what kind of climate action initiatives are existing in relation to sport (UN, IOC) and important mechanisms behind interventions contributing to climate action, e.g. how sport sessions and activities can be used to convey competences/skills in the context of environmental education. In group, we will discuss barriers to change regarding envriónmentally friendly behaviour and collect ideas how sport can play a role in combating climate change in your working context. Topic-related country examples of the GIZ and research will be presented as well. At the end, participants will be able to use already existing resources and know how to implement climate acton contents in their own working context.
Participation in the webseminar “Introduction to S4D” or prior knowledge of S4D are required for this course.
The workshop will take place with a minimum of 10 participants.
