The Journal of Sport for Development (JSFD) is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals for the role of co-editor. Deadline: 31 August 2018

JSFD is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal focused on publishing research from the sport for development sector. Established in 2012, JSFD’s mission is to examine, advance and disseminate research evidence, encourage best practice, and provide a platform to critically discuss lessons learned from sport for development programmes and interventions.

Since 2015, the editorial board of JSFD has been under the leadership of three co-editors, to provide a breadth of research and methodological expertise across the complex field of SFD. One position will become vacant at the end of 2018, and JSFD is
looking to appoint a new co-editor for the next three-year term. It is anticipated that the new co-editor will be appointed by mid-2018 to provide sufficient time for an organised transition and handover. For this particular role, JSFD is seeking a co-editor from the
social sciences (sociology, development, sport management or similar) with substantial qualitative research methodology expertise.

Co-editors oversee the screening and reviewing of submissions and work closely with the Managing Editor to ensure the efficient and effective handling of manuscripts through to publication. The editorial team is responsible for setting and maintaining the
editorial direction of JSFD, ensuring a high quality and rigorous review process and governing the work of the Editorial Board.

Essential criteria:

  • Extensive experience in academic editing and publishing, together with awareness of issues associated with editing an international journal
  • A strong reputation in research and publication in sport for development or related disciplines in the social sciences
  • Demonstrated strength in qualitative and/or innovative research methods
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values and goals of JSFD

Please note that the EOI should be a maximum of 2 pages followed by an up-to-date 2-page curriculum vitae.
