Using the power of sport to end violence, discrimination and disadvantage. Proving that sport can change the world
Deadline: 16 February 2018

A great opportunity has come up with one of the world’s leading sport for development charities, Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. We are looking for a new Head of Programmes and Grants who will be part of a dynamic, hard-working, high performing team, at the forefront of the international Sport for Development sector. We are looking for a person who can represent our values of Teamwork, Responsible stewardship, Innovative leadership, Beneficiary focus and Excellence, and who diligently, positively and assertively will deliver her ambitious targets in grants management and programme development.

In return, we can offer many challenges and a decent remuneration, opportunities for personal and professional growth, undoubtedly a few frustrations and occasions to tear your hair out, but also a great team and the chance to contribute to important change and development for disenfranchised and vulnerable children and young people in disadvantaged communities internationally and throughout the UK.

Established in 2000, Laureus Sport for Good Foundation (Laureus) is a not for profit organisation that aims at using the power of sport to end violence, discrimination and disadvantage, proving that sport can change the world. Laureus targets six social focus areas: Health, Education, Women & Girls, Employability, Inclusive Society and Peaceful Society, all of which are aligned with sections of the United Nations’ 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Laureus supports sport for development programmes, which enhance the social and emotional development of children and young people in disadvantaged, disenfranchised and vulnerable communities, reduce the impact of violence, conflict and discrimination in their lives, inspire healthy behaviour change and increase educational achievements and employability skills. Our support to more than 100 programs across 35 countries takes the shape of grants and technical assistance, which in combination delivers a comprehensive assistance to local partners in the communities we engage in. Furthermore, Laureus invests in impact measurement, research and knowledge-sharing to help strengthen and grow the wider sport for development sector. Laureus highlights serious social issues faced by children and young people and unlocks greater resources for the sector through effective advocacy and communications.

Our new Head of programmes and grants will

  • lead on significant aspects of the programmes and grants team’s work, in particular to ensure grant compliance of Laureus projects funded by Sport for Good and by external (institutional, trusts and foundations) donors, including reporting requirements,
  • supervise and support the organisational development of Laureus-funded grantees,
  • line manage some staff members of the global programmes and grants team,
  • liaise with the fundraising team to support institutional fundraising for grantees,
  • contribute to Sport for Good’s strategy and development, including research and wider networking and influencing in the sector,
  • liaise with the communications team in supporting appropriate communication about grantees on media platforms

Deadline for applications is the 16 February 2018. We will be interviewing during the period and may fill the position before the deadline.
