ITTF Foundation: World Table Tennis Day Officer
The ITTF Foundation is a global not-for-profit foundation that uses table tennis as a tool for development, social change and peace by connecting people worldwide. We use the power of sport to implement or support local projects and empower communities to drive forward social change universally and inclusively.
We exist mainly to foster development through the sport, using table tennis to attract more people to play and then work with them to improve their daily life, but also to promote table tennis and its benefits to a broad range of people.
ABOUT WORLD TABLE TENNIS DAY
On World Table Tennis Day (WTTD), we celebrate table tennis, as well as the universality and social inclusiveness the sport represents. The World Table Tennis Day movement grew yearly in numbers and quality, with celebrations occurring in over 75% of the countries and regions governed by the ITTF Member Associations. The 2023 edition aims at celebrating World Table Tennis Day with the topic of Sustainability and includes an online stream, offline celebrations and the promoter’s campaign.
LOCATION
The position will be home-based with few travel requirements.
TERM
7 months, long-term employment is not excluded.
MANAGER
The ITTF Foundation World Table Tennis Day Officer will report to the ITTF Foundation Head of Programmes.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITY
The ITTF Foundation wishes to retain the selected candidate, on a non-exclusive and full-time basis, to act as an independent consultant to provide to the ITTF Foundation the services as follows.
The World Table Tennis Day Officer will coordinate the World Table Tennis Day from the early planning stage until the final report.
DUTIES
- Elaborate the 2023 World Table Tennis Day concept based on the topic of Sustainability
- Coordinate the branding of the World Table Tennis Day
- Launch 2023 World Table Tennis Day preparation according to the selected topic of the year.
- Coordinate and run the promoters’ campaign, including the call for promoters, selection, guidance and report of selected candidates
- Coordinate the 24hs online stream, including research, content planning, speakers’ coordination and serve as a contact point for all enquiries regarding the online stream
- Coordinate and serve as a contact point for general event organisers
- Coordinate ITTF Foundation’s main celebration of World Table Tennis Day 2023
- Produce a public report on World Table Tennis Day 2023
SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates for the position of ITTF Foundation World Table Tennis Day Officer should demonstrate these essential experience:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; other languages are a plus;
- Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills;
- Strong organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects;
- Proven ability to build rapport with various stakeholders (players, clubs, associations, officials, etc.)
- Good time management skills, including setting priorities and creating and adapting schedules when necessary
- Excellent computer skills, especially regarding writing programmes such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Socially committed and service-oriented person
- Significant experience in the sport of table tennis
Desirable:
- Relevant tertiary education in Sports Management, Physical Education, Marketing or Communication
- Good understanding of the International Table Tennis environment, including the ITTF group and particularly of the ITTF Foundation
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Content management systems skills, particularly Wix and Contao
- Basic skills in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Experience in using Sport for Development
