Position: Research Assistant Intern

Location: Geneva, Switzerland (possible to work remotely)

Duration: As soon as possible – 3 months

  • This internship is open to recent graduates, MA or PhD students
  • This is a part-time unpaid internship with the possibility to develop into a full-time employment
  • Available to work 10-15 hours per week (according to workload)

The position

The research assistant intern assists in all forms of research and advocacy, providing support to Mission 89’s leadership and research partners. The intern will research information on a range of topics related to child rights, child trafficking, human rights and sport integrity, assisting in the process of drafting documents of advocacy, and contributing to developing the research function of this new NGO.

Primary responsibilities

Contribute to the research design and field studies in relation to Mission 89’s aims and objectives and its development of a roadmap to tackle child trafficking in sport. this role will be required to assist the Director with special projects, which may include tasks such as working on meeting strategies and preparations:

  • Carry out desk research
  • Assist with the editing and preparation related to the production of fact sheets, articles, white papers, reports, and presentations etc.
  • Archive cases of survivors
  • Performs research work in archives, through interviews, online, or whatever may be appropriate to assist the Executive Director
  • Prepare materials for submission to agencies / foundations that fund research and other projects
  • Organizes, maintains, and updates website content
  • Prepare a database of organsations and influencers relevant to Mission 89’s activities
  • Perform routine administrative duties as instructed

  • Experience of working autonomously and exercising good judgement, a must
  • Experience conducting research with a good understanding of qualitative research methodologies, desired
  • Good knowledge of child protection frameworks and an understanding of issues of human rights and/or trafficking, desired
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, written and verbal communication skills, desired
