The Olympic Refuge Foundation (ORF) is looking for a Communications Manager to develop and implement the Olympic Refuge Foundation (ORF) communications strategy and coordinate and gather ORF content and develop communications.

Main responsibilities

Strategy

  • Develop and implement ORF communications strategy. This includes: defining narratives, key messages, target audiences, and selected platforms; identifying the relevant spokespeople; and monitoring results.
  • In consultation with the IOC Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Department (CCPA), develop the Refugee Olympic Team (EOR) communications plan and integrate it into the ORF communications strategy.
  • Ensure the systematic integration of ORF and EOR into the overarching IOC Communications activities and campaigns, in particular on the digital platforms of the IOC.
  • Manage the ORF editorial calendar and leverage key milestones.

Content creation and dissemination

  • Coordinate and gather content and develop communications assets such as articles, press releases, briefing documents, Q&As, and other written materials.
  • Ensure content dissemination by leveraging all the relevant communications means and platforms and working closely with the relevant departments and units.
  • Support and prepare communications that sit behind advocacy efforts, packaging information for different audiences.
  • Support and oversee the management of the EOR social media channels and develop and populate specific social media platforms for ORF.
  • Liaising with the IOC Media Relations Team, build and maintain relationships with media about the activities of the ORF and EOR.

Stakeholders’ management

  • Act as a liaison/focal point internally (CCPA, Digital Engagement and Marketing Department, Olympic Channel, EOR Steering Committee , etc.), and externally (EOR and ORF partners).
  • Ensure media training for ORF programmes (athletes, EOR and others involved in delivery of programmes likely to engage with media).
  • Liaison/focal point for external stakeholders, ensuring engagement, coordination and managing expectations particularly but not limited to key events such as the announcement of the EOR. 

Our requirements

  • University degree in political sciences, international relations, or journalism (Masters, bachelor’s degree, federal diploma, etc.).
  • At least 7 years of experience in communications and media engagement (within the world of sport and/or refugee and displaced people would be a plus).
  • Good knowledge of the Olympic Movement, the United Nations System, the NGOs / sport for development sector.
  • Experience and interest in working with refugees and displaced people.
  • Fluency in both: English and Spanish or French. Arabic or German is a plus.
  • Excellent English writing and speaking, editorial and networking skills.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders / managers would be a plus.
  • Recognised and appreciated know-how and manners when dealing with personalities.
  • Ability to work within an extended team, with complex structure and competing priorities; 
  • Ability to establish a realistic, clear and efficient line of action to reach communications objectives.
  • Ability to work remotely and autonomously as needed.
  • Ability to generate a working atmosphere where team spirit contributes to improving performances.
  • Adaptable with regards to working hours and flexibility.
  • Excellent command of the “corporate” tools and follows the internal usage rules (SharePoint, Outlook, OneNote etc.).
