Role summary

We are looking for a Junior Strategist to play a crucial role within the business, helping us create innovative and exciting strategies that deliver social and business impact. If you are curious with a desire to explore, understand and unlock the potential of our clients, then this is the role for you.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years’ experience and bring both a research-driven, analytical mind, as well as bringing a passionate, creative spirit to the role. You must be as comfortable pulling insights from data, as you are designing and facilitating workshops, writing a compelling and emotive strategy, or enthusiastically presenting a new opportunity to a client.

You’ll need to share our belief in positive social change in and through sport, but you don’t need to come from the sport sector; we’re more interested in how you think and how you unlock and analyse what our clients think. Our clients include Bloomberg, Disney, ESPN, Liverpool FC, Sail GP, Euroleague Basketball, the IOC, NFL, SAP, and many more.

Key responsibilities

  • Support Co-Managing Directors to design processes that unlock insights from clients
  • Assist with facilitating (and in some instances, lead) workshops – internal and external – as part of the strategy development process
  • Co-ordinate and deliver client discovery work, utilising a range of methods, on and offline
  • Identify and conduct relevant market research to support strategy development
  • Synthesise and interrogate client insights to inform the development of strategies
  • Contribute to the full development of strategies for a range of clients, leading the process in some instances
  • Consistently challenge thinking and processes throughout delivery to make improvements and ensure the best client experience
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with clients, often being their main contact within the business
  • Some project management of the end-to-end delivery of client work to ensure a client’s brief, budget and timescales are met will be required
  • Create and maintain brilliant working relationships with Account Managers and Senior Account Managers to ensure that our clients get the best experience from their thinkBeyond ‘team’
  • Create (including developing copy and managing design, where relevant) key project documents including pitch presentations, delivery plans, progress updates, outcome reports
  • Engage (and manage the involvement of) additional members of the thinkBeyond team (both senior and junior), ensuring they contribute to projects you lead on as needed
  • Assist at wider Benchmark company events and initatives 

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • 4+ years working experience, ideally within a consultancy or agency
  • Evidence of creating strategies from scratch
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of, and experience using, strategy development tools and techniques
  • Experience of designing and facilitating effective, engaging, and fun workshops
  • A creative mind and a ‘think-outside-the-box’ attitude
  • Excellent analytical and problem‐solving skills
  • Experience of both quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis
  • An understanding of ‘Theory of Change/Logic Models, or equivalent; any experience in using and / or creating these is an advantage
  • Excellent stakeholder and client management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to include presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work efficiently, quickly, and to deadline – there is an immediacy element to our business that runs through everything we do
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently on projects running concurrently
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Action oriented with the desire to go above and beyond the status quo
  • Commitment to, and belief in, the use of sport to create social change
  • An understanding of, and belief in, the role of businesses in social change
  • Ability to work independently, calmly and without micro-management
