Expressions of interest are invited from suitably experienced and qualified individuals interested in the role of Trustee and Director, Middlesbrough Football Club Foundation, the independent charity of Middlesbrough FC.

Operating within four key themes of Education, Health, Social Inclusion and Sport Participation, we provide programmes and initiatives designed to engage the most disadvantaged Teesside communities.

This is an exciting time to be involved, with the opportunity to contribute to the strategic development of a highly regarded charity that is immersed in and engaged with the communities it serves.

The role of the Board is to ensure that the vision for MFCF and corporate objectives are achieved, that the expectations of all stakeholders are fulfilled and a sound financial position is maintained.

The successful candidate should be able to contribute to the strategic leadership of MFCF, and will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to meet the challenges and opportunities faced by the charity and who is comfortable working at a strategic level alongside a mix of staff and volunteers.

Knowledge or experience of working in education or health or with young or vulnerable people or groups with protected characteristics, workforce development or volunteer management will be welcome.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate success in a senior role in the private, public and/or voluntary sector; an understanding of the role of a trustee in promoting good governance; a good understanding of the regional and national funding landscape and the role that sport plays in society; the ability to consider complex issues related to evaluating strategic performance, think creatively and strategically; the skills to challenge current thinking at Board level and present views in a clear and concise manner; and a clear commitment to improving diversity and equality.

The successful applicant may be invited to join a sub-committee of the Board following induction.

MFCF is an equal opportunities employer committed to addressing equality and diversity issues and understanding the needs of under-represented groups in Teesside.

We are keen to achieve a more diverse Board of Directors and particularly welcome applications from members of under-represented groups.

The closing date for applications is Friday 18 November 2016 at 12 noon.

Visit the MFC Foundation website for more information on the role and how to apply.
