UNESCO is looking for two generalist interns to assist with various initiatives in their sport programme. Deadline: 10 September.

Within the sport team of UNESCO, the intern will contribute to the development and follow-up of the different initiatives of the Sport Programme. In particular, the intern shall undertake the following tasks:

In the framework of UNESCO's lead role in the international coordination of the implementation of the Kazan Action Plan (KAP):

  • Contribute to the follow-up of activities related to the implementation of the KAP
  • Assist in outreach to potential government and business community donors
  • Conduct research and analysis on subjects relevant to the sport programme

In the framework of UNESCO institutional work on sport and physical education:

  • Assist in the organization and follow-up of CIGEPS meetings and related working groups I & II
  • Assist in the preparation and follow-up of the MINEPS VII Conference and related side events

In the framework of UNESCO’s lead role as a core partner within the different projects mentioned below:

  • Assist in the coordination of the working groups of the Development Banks Sport Coalition led by the French Development Agency (AFD)
  • Provide support to the creation and implementation of the Global Observatory for Women and Sport in Switzerland, in the framework of Action 4 of the KAP
  • Assist with the coordination of the Wethe15 movement, a global human rights movement launched on the occasion of the Tokyo Paralympic Games
  • Provide support undertaking various desk research, preparing briefings, undertake mappings of existing initiatives and potential partners

The intern shall also assist with input and support to the drafting of section correspondence, notes and any other task related to the implementation of one of the above-mentioned work streams.

Required criteria:

  • Excellent English is mandatory and working knowledge of French would be preferable
  • Knowledge of Spanish, Arabic, Chinese or Russian would be an asset
  • Intellectual curiosity, strong analytical and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to focus, work independently and efficiently in a stimulating, upbeat, yet often high-pressure environment
  • Presentational and office technical skills, including fluency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with design applications (e.g., InDesign / Adobe Creative Suite / Canva) is a plus
  • Experience in project, event, and contact management would be an asset
