David Thiru is executive director of MYSA in Kenya and has a long history of playing and promoting sport.
David Thiru was born in Nairobi. He was a pioneer member of MYSA and was the first recipient of their "Best Player and Sportsman" award in the 1987 MYSA league. He was also the captain of the first MYSA all star team to play in the Norway Cup in 1990. David worked with a Norwegian multinational in Kenya for 5 years before returning to MYSA as the head of finance in 1999. He became the director of Finance, HR and Administration in 2008.
In 2009 David become pioneer director of the new MYSA Sports and Community Leadership Academy. His duties entailed training, monitoring and evaluation and the MYSA 10 year strategic plan development. He also worked to produce the first MYSA sports and community leadership curriculum in conjunction with Laureus Sports for Good Foundation. He has been executive director of MYSA since March 2012 and works with a staff of 43.
He went to Mathare Primary School, and is now a graduate in Business Administration (accounting concentration) from United States International University-Africa (USIU). He also holds a National Diploma in Business Administration and a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Kenya Institute of Human Resource Management. He is currently completing his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) – Strategic Management at Kenyatta University.
