Since then I have been completing an internship with Commonwealth Games Canada. I am based in Barbados working with a program called Healthy Lifestyles Project. It is a initiative that uses sport as a tool to educate on topics such as self esteem, sexual health, decision making, HIV/AIDS etc. I have an avid interest in sport and development as I have seen the power of sport both personally and through working with others. I am looking to continue and broaden my role in sport development. My interests lie in the areas of gender and sport, sport and disability and sport as a tool for empowerment. I am eager and enthusiastic to learn more about sport and development as I think it is an essential component in community development.

Sport has been an important part of my life from the beginning, as an avid soccer player and ski racer. After experiencing the challenges facing young people in the developping world, I decided to see what I could do to harmonize my passion for sport with my social cosciousness. Now I work to develop a program that uses soccer as a tool for community development and youth empowement in West Africa. Aside from playing soccer, and dreaming of snow, I love to write, to dance, and to soak in the life around me.
