The Toolkit is the applied section of sportanddev.org in which users may find information, guides, tools and advice on the practical implementation of sport for development projects and programmes.
This section provides advice and guidance, based on previous experience in sport and development, on building capacity of organisations involved in sport and development. Suggestions and recommendations provided in this section are based on previous experience in sport and development initiatives.
This section includes information on managing projects and 15 tools to help those wishing to develop programmes or specific parts of their programme in sport and development. The tools are specific to particular stages in the ‘project management cycle’ – the process of planning, implementing and evaluating projects or programmes.
Monitoring and evaluation (M&E)
This section aims to provide an introduction to monitoring and evaluation (M&E) together with suggested further reading, tools and guidance. The section focuses mainly on monitoring and evaluation in the development context, and draws from experience and resources generated by other sectors where this can be applied to sport and development.
Child protection and safeguarding
Every day millions of people participate in sport as coaches, athletes, volunteers, referees and organisers. For many, this is a positive experience that develops social networks, confidence, skills and knowledge. However, to avoid that the experience turns negative for some, basic guiding principles need to be agreed upon and implemented.
In this section you will find links to resources including videos, online lessons, case studies and other educational materials. These tools can be incorporated into existing sport and development programmes, or serve as inspiration for new teachers and coaches. Athletes looking to improve their skills can also benefit from materials.
