Consultant, researcher and practitioner in Sport for Development and Peace (SDP) and Olympism. PhD in International Peace, Conflict and Development Studies with a research on sport as a peace building tool in Colombia and Northern Ireland.
I strongly support the idea that, when properly managed and articulated, sport-based programs and interventions can make a valuable contribution to social development processes. With this in mind, I have participated in the design, implementation and evaluation of programs aimed at community development via sport and the Olympic ideal; designed and delivered academic modules and workshops on sport for development and peace; conducted and published research on SDP, and advised organisations that incorporate sport in their agendas in a variety of countries including Belgium, Colombia, England, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Monaco, Northern Ireland, the Philippines, Spain and Switzerland. I have spearheaded various SDP initiatives such as the program Goals for Peace International, a campaign in support of the Olympic Truce and more recently, the Plataforma Deporte para el Desarrollo y la Paz, Platform on Sport for Development and Peace: http://deportedesarrolloypaz.org
