I have worked in the Institute of Technology for over 20 years. I have lectured in the areas of Lifestyle Programming, Activity Leadership, Exercise Prescription, Anatomy and Physiology, Behaviour Change Psychology, Health Promotion, Population Health. A strengths based approach to human capacity building underpins the work of the Department, wellness and physical flourish are core themes through all the degree programmes. I have been involved in the development of new degree and masters programmes. The development of promotional materials and course documentation for students and prospective students is core job role. I have supervised many undergraduate and Master level research projects. I have acted as external examiner for a number of other Higher education institutions and training providers.
The United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO) Chair has been established in the Institute of Technology Tralee with the aim of “Transforming the Lives of People with Disabilities their families and communities through PE, Sport, Fitness and Recreation”. UNESCO Chairs are not funded by UNESCO and my role involves proposal writing, grant applications and seeking philanthropic donation to mobilise the actions of the Chair. We work with partnerships to progress our goals.
