Danya Hodgetts is a sport manager, lecturer and researcher who strives to combine practitioner skills and industry experience with theory, best practice and research. In her roles as National Development Manager with Surf Life Saving Australia, and Regional Manager with the Australian Sports Commission, Danya lead teams that implemented programs in coaching, officiating, club & school participation, high performance and member development.
For the past five years, Danya has been a Lecturer and Program Director of Health and Exercise Studies at Central Queensland University. She has an Honours Degree in Human Movement Science, a Masters in Business Administration and is completing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) examining how major events can
Danya is obsessive about organisation, delivering real outcomes and making things happen. Danya continues to interact and consult with the industry, working with a range of Australian and New Zealand sporting organisations and government bodies in the areas of strategic planning and review, sport development and education and training. She is passionate about sport and its ability to generate social change. She is not an elite athlete.
