The best thing about Sports for Development is by means of engagement in something positive – the love of sports – you develop personal life skills. As a freelancer Sport Development, I teach life skills through games and team sports. Examples are: I know my boundaries, I feel strong, I set boundaries, I ask questions, I express myself, I say ‘no’, I ask for support, I solve problems, I give support and I think before I act.
Moreover, when sport is used as a means to achieve social goals – for instance Gender Equality through Sports – the power of sports is that it isn’t about theoretical learning, but learning by feeling and by doing.
Relevant work experiences in Sports for Development:
- Coordinator La League: Girls' Empowerment through Soccer. I was leading the partnership (Plan in the Netherlands, Brazil and Nicaragua together with Women Win and Cruyff Foundation). I’ve developed the Theory of Change, the methodology (i.e. a facilitator's manual on Gender Equality though Soccer) and an impact measurement trajectory for the social start-up (Plan Nederland, 2018).
- Developed ISA’s Gender Equality through Sports methodology (i.e. a facilitator’s manual and coaches’ manual) with integrated life skills through sports. I also trained community sport coaches in Mali and Egypt on the topic (ISA, 2015-2016).

As a freelancer, I will help you to develop a new idea you have by exploring the best pathway to social impact, developing one or more solutions and writing clear documents to start from. (And together with FRIS Collective I can establish a team of professionals to work with you.)
