Working in the Middle East enabled a realisation and appreciation for sport as a driver to unite and empower individuals at the most basic community level. The absence of an integrated sporting curriculum in schools in this part of the world, the impact this has on children's learning and the skills of those exiting the education system, has lead me to reevaluate the approach educators must take when designing curriculum and leading educational reform in a country without a strong sport culture.
