Rekha Dey graduated in Economics from St. Xavier's College, Ranchi. With a PGDMM from Institute of Marketing and Management and a PGDIB from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), she has work experience of 9yrs having extensively worked in the fields of media, research & advocacy and sports. She was the Editor of PHDCCI Bulletin, a monthly publication of the Chamber and has written papers and reports. She was a part of the research team at India Development Foundation. She conducted an action research study and wrote the report on Integration of sports in Indian Education System, a study commissioned by New Education Group (NEG). She led Magic Bus as Head Advocacy building national and international partners. She was India Coordinator for the Australian Sports Outreach Program, DFAT, Government of Australia from 2012-14. She is currently Founder of Community Sports development consulting firm, Rekha Dey & Associates. She has been responsible over the last two years for implementation of 'Modbox', a modified form of Boxing in collaboration with Boxing Australia and University of Canberra supported by DFAT, Govt. of Australia under the Asian Sports Partnerships program (2016-18). She is also conducting employment linked vocational training and education for Gym instructors for over three years; this program is in collaboration with IL&FS Skills, India's leading skill training provider. Over 350 young people mostly coming from underprivileged background have been trained, certified and successfully placed with jobs - a 'Sport for Employment' program. She was also involved with the Govt. of India for development of National Occupational Standards for job roles in sports, fitness and recreation.
Rekha is a social development specialist of over 18 years of experience and has excelled in project development & fund management on behalf of leading Indian & international agencies. In ‘Sports’, she is presently involved with the design, development & deployment of the India ‘sport-for-development’ program that involves development of qualification packs & national occupational standards in sport, implementation of international sport programs at the grassroots and dovetailing sports development with environmental learning, community stake holding and lifelong employability.
