Vivian Puerta is a highly accomplished professional, with 20 years of experience in both private and public sectors. The most recent years she has dedicated herself to support nonprofit causes and projects. She strongly believes in the universal power of sports and that social transformation can be achieved through high-impact educational projects that promotes the development of social-emotional capacities and other important competencies of children and young people.
Since 2016, she has proven her leadership and talent as the Executive Director of Colombianitos Foundation, an award winning organization that uses sport as a tool for social development and peacebuilding. The foundation has received recognitions from international and local institutions such as UNICEF, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Beyond Sports, FIFA, UEFA Foundation, and educational authorities from Colombia, for the quality, innovation, results and impact of their programs.
Under her leadership, Colombianitos has designed and implemented pedagogical programs aligned with local educational policies and with the Sustainable Development Goals, looking for developments in areas such as social-emotional and citizenship competencies, young women and girl's empowerment, prevention of early alcohol consumption and youth leadership. This new approach allows the projects she has led to get into the public system through schools all around the country and has led to a significant increase from 4.500 beneficiaries a year, to 25.500 in the same period of time. This increase was also possible thanks to the innovative, scalable and sustainable projects whose design implied significant changes in both the operation and the fundraising and sustainability strategies.
Vivian has advocated in diverse scenarios where she had the opportunity to carry out the message that pedagogical sports practices can be a powerful tool in the social transformation and the construction of a peaceful Colombia.
