Wilson Masaka
I am a hard-working and dedicated web developer from Nairobi in Kenya, keen to improve my technical and creative skills in an educational, work, sports or creative environment.
I have valuable experience of the web design process, teaching, leadership and working in teams both in sports and ICT sector which have gotten from working with different NGO's and the community at large.
I'm a football community coach and a former player. I have passion in sports and development. I co-founded Metro sports and currently I'm coaching Mathare North Rangers f.c with an objective to nurture football talents and to keep the youths away from crime. Sports is a great tool to sourcing other opportunities and potentials and I am great example whereby I have used sports to educate myself and get a job which currently I support my family 100% I am also known as Wilsenx, Captainy, Coach, Oruma, Champion, Willy and Maja depending on whom I am interacting with.
I'm a Web developer/ designer, IT Trainer and Football coach from Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya. I have worked with NGO's and youth groups in the areas of web design, Skill development, Community development, Peer education and youth empowerment programs for more than a decade. I run a community centre called Wilsen Initiative (Wi) (www.wilseninitiative.wordpress.com) which seeks to Inspire, Connect and Educate (ICE) youth in skills and knowledge that address gaps within the society, especially amongst the youth in informal settlements.
Our greatest tools at Wilsen Initiative (WI) is Talent and Skills utilization through which we encourage young people to believe in themselves and be agents of change, using the philosophy of change that starts from within. Through vast community networks and my active participation in Education For Sustainable Development (ESD) and using football and ICT as the tool, I commit to be being an ambassador in the dissemination of information to the grassroots level.
I’m a passionate global citizen and I embrace diversity through interaction with diverse communities. I have lived in Zanzibar for seven months, Germany two months, in Norway for a three week exchange program in 1997, 1998 and 1999 respectively and many more.
My aspirations I would love to build on these experiences by combining my passion for sports, leadership, technology and youth empowerment with my interest in interacting, and sharing knowledge with people from different cultures and backgrounds towards making the World a better place.
