I am a postgraduate student at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. I am also a volunteer for The Students' Health and Welfare Centres Organisation (SHAWCO), the largest student-run, non profit organization in the country based on campus. SHAWCO constantly strives to improve the quality of life for individuals in developing communities within the Cape Metropolitan area by means of a variety of Health and education projects. Here, I serve as Project Leader for the Sports Pros Project which aims to create an opportunity for school learners from (previously)disadvantaged backgrounds to harness their sporting talents and to produce a well-rounded individual by developing sporting skills and promoting a healthy lifestyle, ethics on and off the sports field and excellence. I am passionate about Sports, Development, Social Justice and Transformation.
My involvement in Sport and Development began when I first volunteered for SHAWCO Sports in my first year in University. I have since remained a volunteer and become more involved in the planning and implementation aspects of the project as part of the committee. I am currently the Project Leader for this project for the upcoming year.
