Commonwealth Youth Sport for Development and Peace (CYSDP) Network questionnaire on e-sports

The Commonwealth Youth Sport for Development and Peace (CYSDP) Network is looking for youth and young people in the SDP sector to provide their views on esports in sport for development.

The annual meeting of the Commonwealth Advisory Body on Sport (CABOS), an independent body providing advice on sport policy issues to Commonwealth Countries, will be held between the 7-9 October in Mauritius.

CABOS is an independent body that meets annually providing advice on sport policy issues, particularly as it relates to sport for development.

The meeting will see representatives gather from a wide range of ministries and organisations across the Commonwealth, and focus on three key priority areas:

  1. Supporting the development of model indicators on sport, physical education, physical activity and the SDGs
  2. Mapping sport integrity vulnerabilities and capabilities across the commonwealth
  3. Produce a consensus statement on promoting human rights in and through sport

CABOS will also include a special session on ‘sport policy innovation’.

The CYSDPs contribution will be to provide the youth perspective on how e-sports relates to each of the three priority areas, and special session. The network will use this survey, previous research undertaken by the group and the first-hand experience of members at e-sports events, to do so.

The survey should be used as a reflective tool to unwrap the positive and negative aspects of e-sports, to discuss sports contribution to the SGDs and to explore how much more sports can contribute to safeguarding human rights. We especially hope to get responses from youth groups and young people in sports and SDP sectors.
