Dr. Auma Obama: Five tips for young people

On the opening evening of EMPOWER 2014, Dr Auma Obama shared five tips for participants to follow.

EMPOWER 2014 kicked off on Thursday 27 March, highlighting "Sports for Youth Empowerment". As part of her speech, Dr Auma Obama of the Sauti Kuu Foundation shared key five pieces of advice for young people:

  • Don't worry about life - just live it.
  • As long as you try, you can never be wrong.
  • Never stop asking questions. Always ask why. The question can be more important than the answer.
  • Don't be afraid.
  • The world owes you nothing. You must seize opportunities and work to achieve your goals.

Obama stressed that young people can be part of the solution to global poverty and play a key role in addressing the world's problems, urging participants to play their part in redefining ideas about poverty and global development.
