On the third and last day of the Sport as a Mediator between Cultures conference, the participants had the opportunity to visit several Sport for Peace projects in Israel.

The first stop was a visit at the multi-cultural Ultimate Peace project, which uses the sport of Frisbee to build friendships and understanding among youth. sportanddev’s Usha Selvaraju interviewed two youth, who have been participating in the programme.

The 13 and 14 year old teenagers explained that through their participation at the Ultimate Peace project they have learned various skills, such as being friendly with people and asking questions to improve playing techniques, but also to promote a better understanding. The players also mentioned that Frisbee plays an important role for them, even outside the framework of the project.

Participants of the Sport for Development and Peace conference also visited and watched the activities of the Football 4 Peace project. In the activities young people learn to play football together in non-threatening settings, thereby developing a cross-community understanding.
