We want to (RE) invent the organisation of new ISCPES meetings.

More than listening we want people to think, talk and ask.

Selected papers will not need to be finished/closed with results. The choice will be upon “GOOD QUESTIONS”, “GOOD PROJECTS”, “GOOD METHODOLOGIES”. Therefore, we need to leave spare time for interaction with our invited senior keynote speakers. Please submit your own ideas and doubts about comparing results on sport and physical education mainstream conclusions. Please dare to provoke our scientific community. This is the 40th Summit format.

International Organisations are crossing challenging times. In sports and physical education there is a huge number of them, aiming several topics under the major theme of “sports and physical activity”.

ISCPES was born 40 years ago as a place for international studies comparisons. Our founders wanted to understand how different countries or professionals organised themselves to promote better physical activity, fierce and fair sport competitions and improved health for longer quality of life.

In the last two decades, sports emerged as one of the big “features” in the world. In part due to the incredible media development but mostly because sport enables people to organise several groups to improve education, health, multiracial societies and social inclusion. This set of aspects gave naturally rise to diverse and multiple organisations, which focused in different goals and missions.

Considering the exponential increase in sport literature give ISCPES mission an utmost useful relevance to compare methodologies, results, conclusions in sport studies across different continents and/or contexts.

Additionally, ISCPES want to enjoy this opportunity to renew its membership list in age, origin and region, preparing it for the opening to a new age and new challenges.

This is the reason explaining the 40th Summit different format.

In the Summit there will be no special committees, no special presentations but more discussion about questions we cannot solve alone. The idea is to bring referenced keynote speakers and open the floor for young researchers and scholars to ask their main interrogations, face to face, with senior invited academics that will be present.

For this Summit we confirmed five prominent keynote speakers that accepted our invitations to tell us the last news on their specific subjects.

The Local Committee will be composed by students, professors and authorities to achieve a major audience among Portuguese and international students.

The keynote speakers will be Paul Wylleman, Richard Bailey, John Saunders, Rosa D’Amico and José Maia. Additionally, we invited some sport personalities to act as moderators for special panels.

For panel discussions we had to start with some major themes:

  • Physical Education and Sport Coaching in different countries/continents
  • Implementation of School, Exercise and Health Programmes
  • Sport Tourism and Sustainable Destinations
  • Sports Socioeconomic Impacts
  • The future of Sports with New Technologies (E_sports)
  • Reinventing Sport Jobs – Enlarging World Markets

It is also confirmed we will include the “Best Communication/Project Award”, which name is under discussion and depends on sponsor choice.
