ChildFund Sport for Development: Regional Project Coordinator

ChildFund Sport for Development is looking for a South Africa based Regional Project Coordinator to join their team.

Location: South Africa 
Employment: Full-time, 12-month consultancy position (possibility of extension)

Professional Fee: 25,500 - 30,000 ZAR per month indicative based on experience 

Reports to: Sport for Development Impact and Scaling Manager
Other Information: Regular travel in the region is required (pending COVID restrictions) and applicants must have the right to live and work in South Africa

Job overview

The Sport for Development (S4D) Regional Project Coordinator leads operations between the S4D Team and partner organisations in South Africa and neighbouring countries and will:

  1. Hold operational and reporting leadership for all projects
  2. Build a strong, supportive and productive environment for partnerships that extend to partner staff and coaches
  3. Ensure strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government, donors and ChildFund officers/departments
  4. Ensure program quality across all work-streams

Key duties

Project Management Support

  • Support partner organisations to ensure project cycle management is in-line with approved project proposals and organisational protocols and requirements
  • Maintain budget oversight
  • Ensure project management platforms are up to date
  • Provide representational and focal point services for all ChildFund Sport for Development activities at the regional, national and sub-national levels
  • Ensure project activity and budget reporting and donor management requirements are met

Partnership Support

  • Build strong and effective sub-national, national and regional partnerships
  • Participate in appropriate partner meetings, planning sessions and on-going liaison
  • Provide training and support for partners, including around administrative and financial processes
  • Manage partnerships in-line with ChildFund commitments and ensure appropriate evidence is captured to demonstrate commitments in action

Program Quality

  • Provide support for coach education training as agreed
  • Conduct monitoring visits with partners staff
  • Support improvements in disability inclusive practice
  • Ensure relevant protocols are adhered to across all projects
  • You are expected to remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding and Sexual Exploitation, Abuse or Harassment (SEAH) risks and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with Child Safeguarding and Prevention of SEAH Policies

Qualifications and experience

  • Tertiary education in a relevant field with an interest in international development
  • 2-3 years experience working with national and/or regional organisations in developing contexts, with sports federations an advantage
  • International development donor reporting experience
  • Relevant experience in South Africa, Malawi, and/or neighbouring countries
  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Experience in environments with limited experience of INGO reporting requirements
  • Demonstrated willingness to work in a complex partnership environment with multiple competing priorities
  • Demonstrated understanding of children’s rights and participation in practice
  • Demonstrated understanding of Sport for Development
