On the ball? FIFA is looking to recruit a service-oriented and tenacious person as an Event Safeguarding Manager (Zurich, Switzerland).

To support our Social Responsibility & Education Division within the Safeguarding Department, FIFA is looking to recruit a service-oriented and tenacious person as an Event Safeguarding Manager (Tournaments and Events).

Your duties

  • Employ effective and efficient strategies to embed safeguarding and child protection practice within FIFA’s tournament and events infrastructure, including embedding safeguarding requirements in to host country bidding processes and reviewing bid proposals to assess the proposed measures
  • Working closely with the FIFA Tournaments and Event team and relevant local organizing committees, develop and ensure information about safeguarding arrangements and protocols for reporting and case-management are disseminated to participating member associations, teams and individual participants prior to and during a FIFA tournament or event
  • Ensure that FIFA provides relevant advice, guidance, quality assurance and training as appropriate to the organization and its member associations in relation to safeguarding and child protection at FIFA’s tournaments and events
  • Provide on-site case-management support and coordination and act as the FIFA focal point for safeguarding at select FIFA competitions
  • Provide training in advance of an event or competition to all FIFA staff (those that will be present at the designated tournament or event) to ensure they understand what action they should take if they have a concern or if a disclosure is made to them
  • Oversee and ensure safeguarding training and education is part of the preparation of all qualifying teams for FIFA competitions
  • Liaise with FIFA communications to respond to any media enquiries relating to an incident at a FIFA tournament or event and other relevant communications in consultation with the Head of Safeguarding and senior FIFA officials
     

Our requirements

  • Master’s degree, postgraduate qualification in a related discipline or relevant experience to the same level of knowledge and expertise in disciplines as social work, law, safeguarding or child protection
  • Excellent knowledge of English, and any other FIFA language (German, Spanish, and French) would be an asset. Spanish or French language skills preferred
  • An understanding of the global sporting landscape and safeguarding in sport
  • A strong professional background in either social work, law, safeguarding and child protection within the statutory, sporting or voluntary sector and experience of applying that to different contexts, with at least 5 years’ experience at a senior level
  • Experience of working with and an understanding of statutory and voluntary agencies and infrastructures specific to safeguarding and child protection globally, including those that specifically relate to sport
  • Experience of training others in how to engage with these agencies
  • Proven significant experience of developing and delivering safeguarding training, especially in international contexts and culturally sensitive environments, to a wide range of audiences including senior level staff through to operational support level staff
  • Proven experience of developing and managing an event-based or “competition-time” safeguarding strategy or plan, including managing safeguarding cases as both before, during and after the competition or event itself
  • Proven experience of supporting others to develop robust safeguarding processes to prevent and manage safeguarding cases at international events and competitions
  • Proven ability to monitor and report on progress achieved and any challenges faced
  • Strong identification with FIFA
  • Willingness to travel at least 40% of the year or depending on international competition schedules
