Handicap International, Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit GmbH (gtz), medico international

This handbook reports on the results of pilot projects undertaken by Handicap International and Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit in Cambodia and Angola where sport and games were identified and tested as a means of rehabilitation for children and young adults with disabilities.

The project aimed at strengthening disabled children both mentally and physically, by promoting their rehabilitation, facilitating their social integration and their capacity for self-help. The handbook provides a description of the projects and makes recommendations on developing inclusive sport camps for children and youth with disabilities in a developing country context.

It offers guidelines and detailed information on the implementation of activities, as well as ideas about what worked, what challenges were faced and what factors need to be considered when implementing similar programs in other Low or Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
