Women 2000 and beyond: Women, Gender Equality and Sport

This publication explores the power of sport and physical education to advance gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. It examines persistent inequalities and challenges to equal participation and benefits for women and girls, as well as ways to address them.

Examples of good practices are provided in all areas. The report outlines recommendations for action in the areas of research, policy and operational activities. The report recognises that concerted efforts are needed by all key actors to move positions forward on gender equality in sport and on the empowerment of women and girls through sport.
