Grassroot Soccer UK is advertising for a Business Development Manager (Maternity Cover) to manage and support Grassroot Soccer’s donor relationships in the UK and Europe as part of a small but growing team in London. Deadline: 27 June 2018.

The candidate will oversee institutional donor relationships in the UK with the support of the GRS UK Director and Global Business Development team. Additionally, the Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, evaluating and making inroads with new institutional donor prospect, including trusts and foundations.  
 
Responsibilities
:

  • Project manage UK and European key accounts with support of the Global Business Development Team, including current and prospective institutional donors, partners, and influencers
  • Track and support with reporting writing and deadlines, and other existing donor and grant conditions, with the support of the Global Impact Manager
  • Develop and maintain relationships and communications with the Global GRS Business Units, including Country teams in Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa, GRS Partnerships team
  • Identify new donor opportunities (Institutional/ Governmental/ Foundations/ Trusts) and drive existing applications in progress and in the pipeline
  •  Coordinate proposal development from opportunity identification to submission with support of the Global Business Development Team, working closely with programme, research, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) teams to craft strategic submissions
  • Proactively identify collaborators and partners (i.e. other INGOs/ NGOs and organisations)
  • Maintaining the GRS database of key contacts, donors and influencers

 
Key relationships

The Business Development Manager will report to the GRS UK Director. This individual would also work closely with the Global Business Development team based in the USA, the Global Director of Development, Country and Partnerships team, Monitoring and Evaluation, Communications and Finance teams. The role requires strong collaboration with colleagues across multiple internal and international departments. 
 
Requirements – Essential:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in restricted fundraising, specifically Grants and Trusts Fundraising/ Business Development
  • A strong understanding of international development, with focus on global health, SRH, GBV, HIV, youth development desired
  • Outstanding verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to hit the ground running, prioritise and stay on top of current trends within the sector
  • Commercial talent and acumen to generate new leads, close deals, maintain strong relationships and conduct thorough follow-up
  • Proven track record of managing donors and grant report management
  • Ability to work independently, remotely and flexibly across different time zones and teams
  • Experience working with well reputed charities (e.g. as a volunteer, employee, consultant, board member)

 
Desirable:

  • Experience with donors such as DFID, NORAD, SIDA, UN, Comic Relief, HIVOS, IKEA Foundation
  • Experience working in Sport for Development and Peace organisations
  • Relevant post graduate qualification (master’s or equivalent)
  • Interest in/knowledge of health and social issues affecting young people and communities in developing countries
  • Experience working internationally and in different cultural contexts

 
Position hours and location:

The position is full time, Monday to Friday working within an environment that accommodates flexibility and working remotely.
