Forsports Foundation

“You must be the change you want to see in the world.”-Mahatma Gandhi

Our mission is to use sports as a tool to address societal issues such as gender inequality, streetism and homelessness, health and wellbeing and the need to engage in physical activities and also alleviate poverty by the use of sports to provide underprivileged and vulnerable children with basic education, vocational training and apprenticeship to empower them for their future roles to themselves and society.

Sport has so many potentials for the society outside of the playing field. These potentials are however not explored to the fullest for the benefit of the society.

It is our strong belief that development can and should not only be seen and measured in monetary terms; there are many factors and institutions that affect development. The social as well as educational and health spheres, the rights and issues of children and the youth are areas that need concerted efforts and strategies if we hope to achieve meaningful and sustainable development for now and in the future.

We also hope to show that such an exercise needs cooperation between and among institutions both Government and Non-Governmental, The Private Sector, The Local Community at large, Sports Personalities etc. in order to broaden the perspective and participation.

Forsports Foundation highlights the relationship between sports and social development.  It will be used to highlight how sports can be used to promote among others, health, peace, non-aggression and development in a continent where these phenomena are in short supply. In short to use sport as a channel for development; to promote and create awareness on the messages of peace, non-violence and rights and plights of children and the youth.

The aim and motivation for undertaking this project are among others to demonstrate and show how sport can be used to promote and create awareness on the issues confronting children and the youth on the continent and attempting strategies to address them.

We are of the opinion that the strength of sports to draw people from all walks of life and age, religious beliefs, political and ethnic affiliation but most of all the love and passion of sports will serve as an added impetus to draw the youth and children especially to engage in an activity for fun but at the same time learn a lot through it. This will be an added impetus and motivation and this is where our main conviction lies since this will capture the attention of people both passive and active and thus present a good basis for success, participation, involvement and support.
